What is involved in the financial planning process?

Advice Process

IDFM (City) Ltd has established a reputation in the industry for delivering a professional service to clients.

Initial Meeting Introduction

  • Explain the services we offer.
  • Examine your circumstances and requirements using a fact find.
  • Agree your objectives and goals.
  • Agree any immediate actions that need to be taken.
  • Arrange for the rights to review your existing policies.

Discovery

This will identify the obstacles you face in achieving your financial goals. We will look at where you are, where you want to go and how we can maximise the possibility of getting you there.

What to bring:

  • Last two years' tax returns if self-employed or last 3 months payslips if employed.
  • Current bank, investment fund, portfolio and pension statements.
  • Current life insurance policies.
  • Breakdown of all credit card accounts, loans and mortgages (i.e. Lender/amount outstanding/monthly payment).
  • Any wills or trusts.
  • Any other documents that would help us fully understand your financial situation.
  • Proof of identity, such as a passport or photocard driving licence, and a utility bill (not mobile telephone) that is less than three months old clearly showing name and address.

Research and Analysis

  • Build a spreadsheet of client's current holdings/financial planning/mortgages and loans.
  • Research the most suitable course of action by using bespoke software.
  • Recommend the most suitable product and provider to meet your requirement.

Client Solution Meeting

  • Recap on your objectives/goals and reach agreement on the areas you wish to take action.
  • Presentation of your ‘financial plan’ and recommendations to bridge the gaps in order to reach your goals. This plan will form the foundation for all of our work together.
  • Provide you with relevant illustrations and product literature.
  • Only when you understand and are comfortable with the plan and its recommendations will we seek your authority to proceed.
  • Complete relevant product application paperwork.
  • Since we are looking for a lifelong relationship, we encourage you to take the time necessary to be completely comfortable with the plan prior to taking the next step.

Solution Implementation

  • Provide you with a suitability letter detailing the advice given.
  • Process application till financial plan is implemented and contracts issued.

Review Meeting

Review your financial planning on a regular basis depending on the frequency and type of contract you require.
